It was great to support and mentor someone in this great leadership program that Front and Centered offers. To hear about the projects the participants worked on during the program. How it was focused on their community and it's needs, how to best support it.

We are thrilled to share that Esteban Ortiz, founder of the Gorge Association of Aspirations (La Asociación de Aspiraciones del Gorge), participated in the Water Justice Unconference in Tacoma, WA on July 24!  

Representing the Columbia Basin, Esteban brought vital grassroots perspectives to table discussions and collective visioning sessions—advocating for community-driven solutions to critical environmental justice and water issues affecting the Columbia Gorge. From protecting regional waterways to amplifying the voices of diverse local communities, taking action together is how we build a sustainable future.

Hello from HEAL Utah!

My name is Carmen and I am a Senior Policy Associate for the Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah (HEAL Utah). I am reaching out today to share a press release from HEAL Utah and partners in California and Washington who are raising the alarm over evidence that Utah is being positioned to host high-level radioactive waste from other states, including potentially spent nuclear fuel from San Onofre and radioactive waste from the Hanford cleanup.

This comes after Utah was selected as one of five states for the Department of Energy’s “Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus” initiative. State officials have indicated interest in working with other states to find a solution for their nuclear waste, while Utahns have not been given a meaningful opportunity to weigh in.

The implications are significant for Utah and communities across the West: transporting and managing high-level radioactive waste would create new transportation, emergency…
