Our Story
The Gorge Association of Aspirations was founded to bridge a critical gap in our region: guiding the Columbia River Gorge through a Just Transition toward a resilient, equitable, and regenerative future.
The Columbia River Gorge is a place of extraordinary natural beauty, rich cultural history, and deep community roots. However, our region stands at a vital crossroads. We face interconnected challenges: widening socioeconomic inequality, the complex balance between sustainable development and preservation, and accelerating climate impacts that threaten both ecosystems and livelihoods.
We believe that protecting the Gorge cannot come at the expense of the working people, Indigenous nations, and vulnerable communities who call it home. By centering climate justice, local economic sovereignty, and fair, green livelihoods, we work to build a future where both nature and the people of the Columbia River Gorge thrive together.

Programs

Efforts are needed to ensure safe, equitable, and accessible outdoor experiences for all, especially for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and LGBTQ+ communities.

The primary pathways for such advocacy include navigating the distinct jurisdictional frameworks of Oregon and Washington.
